Open House Hsinchu is hosting its first festival in 2021. Hsinchu, 80 kilometres south of Taipei, is the oldest city in northern Taiwan. Yet, the development of the Science Park 40 years ago made Hsinchu the home to the world’s largest semiconductor foundry, making it the city a “Silicon Shield” for Taiwan. Therefore, the city’s space development is intertwined with historical heritage, top universities, science park, national research institutes, as well as the Silicon-Valley style dwellers and their residences.
