Open House Macau
macau
7-8 November 2026
First launched in 2018 as the first Open House event in Asia, Open House Macau offers a unique opportunity for the public to experience the city’s buildings and architecture from the inside out. What makes this festival especially distinctive is Macau itself: one of the most densely populated territories in the world, with a compact and layered urban fabric shaped by nearly 500 years of cultural exchange between East and West. Its architectural landscape is extraordinary in its diversity, reflecting both Chinese vernacular traditions and Portuguese colonial influences, and encompassing buildings such as patio-houses, shop-houses, Neoclassic, Art Déco, Modernist, and contemporary structures.
By opening these sites to the public, Open House Macau not only showcases this rich architectural heritage but also highlights how culture, history, and urban life intersect in a dense, living environment.
The festival is organized by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism, a local non-profit institution dedicated to promote research, education, production and dissemination of knowledge in architecture, urbanism, and urban culture.
