Open House Macau
2026
Intense and complex, Macau is the most densely populated territory in the world, a vibrant and ever-changing city with a unique history of cultural exchange. Glossy casino developments of recent years juxtapose with a compact and layered fabric, where scattered idiosyncratic buildings tell a history of almost 500 years of cohabitation between East and West.
Open House Macau is committed to uncover the untold architectural history of Macau from its cluttered urban landscape, by opening the doors of great architecture examples to its citizens, welcoming them to talk about, think about and celebrate their city, while experiencing first-hand how good quality design may positively influence their daily lives. It will offer its audiences the chance to get behind-the-scenes from sites that are usually not accessible, encompassing an eclectic selection of 50 buildings of Chinese vernacular architecture, patio-houses, shop-houses, Neoclassic, Art Déco, Modernist, and Contemporary buildings.
OHM is organized by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism, a non-profit organization established in Macau to promote research, education, production and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Architecture, Urbanism, Design and Urban Culture.
