Copenhagen kicks off 2023 Open House festivals

Open House is expanding! New festivals are launching in four cities in 2023: Copenhagen, Denmark (25-26 March); Queretaro, Mexico; Zagreb, Croatia; and Zaragoza, Spain.

OPEN HOUSE EUROPE

A new three-year international cooperation with various activities that foster inclusive conversations about architecture and its role as a positive changemaker, including annual summits, volunteer exchanges, a digital knowledge hub, and more.

The project officially kicked off on 3 March at the National Gallery of Art in Vilnius, Lithuania. A live stream of the event is available on YouTube.

OPEN HOUSE COPENHAGEN
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK
25-26 MARCH

Copenhagen is the World Capital of Architecture in 2023. To celebrate the designation, the Danish Architecture Center is launching Open House Copenhagen with a lineup of more than 50 sites, including palaces, power plants, and private homes. Visitors will get rare access to Nationalbanken, Arne Jacobsen’s masterpiece; a glimpse into life on floating architecture on Refshaleøen designed by Bjarke Ingels; tunnel systems 25 feet below sea level; and much more.

The festival was recently featured in Dezeen’s top 7 architecture and design events in March

OPEN HOUSE ATHENS
ATHENS, GREECE
1-2 APRIL

The 2023 edition of Open House Athens aims to highlight bioclimatic architecture and its contributions to the quality of life of its inhabitants, as well as notable examples of buildings reimagining construction methods. In all, the festival features 70 building tours, 2 guided walks, special programming for students, guided tours of production spaces, and 5 competitions that include a portfolio contest in partnership with the Vakalo School of Art & Design.

Can’t make it to Athens? Interviews and tours of three local architectural practices will be released as part of Open Office.
