About Open House Querétaro

Open House Queretaro is an open and free public festival organised to celebrate the history, constructive tradition, and urban development of one of the most traditional and fast-growing cities in central Mexico. Celebrated in October, it incorporates guided tours among the most significant buildings designed through its 482 years of history. These tours include baroque colonial churches and maisons from the Spanish tradition, as well as modern and contemporary emblematic structures. In addition to trails and walks in the streets of the Historic Downtown District, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the festival includes visits to the plazas and public squares that have made Queretaro a Mexican referent of a vibrant and safe city. This combination of tradition, culture, and modernism shapes the city's architectural realm.

Open House Queretaro invites participants to discover and learn about the city by exploring its plazas, streets, and squares. It helps people understand the importance of the relations between scale and space, the potential of the relations between mass and void, and the possibilities of the interface between private and public spaces. These elements have allowed the city to thrive and generate relationships between all its citizens in the urban realm, providing a place where visitors and dwellers can come together and share experiences.

With more than fifty buildings, ten walks, and the involvement of dozens of volunteers and students from all architecture and design schools in Central Mexico, Open House Queretaro promises to be an emblematic festival that invites people from around the world to discover the built heritage and the potential of a city in constant growth. It seeks to establish itself as an example of good practices, offering a sustainable environment for residents and visitors. ¡Welcome to Open House Queretaro!
